The McIndoe Centre is renowned for its excellence in specialist surgical care, delivering personalised treatment within a welcoming, modern environment. We are now looking for a dedicated and motivated Ophthalmic Technician (Bank) to join our expanding clinical team. This flexible bank role is ideal for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care, thrives in a clinical setting, and enjoys working as part of a supportive and multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a key part in supporting our ophthalmology service by providing high-quality diagnostic testing and patient care. Working closely with consultants, nurses, and administrative teams, you will help ensure smooth and efficient clinic operations.

Main duties of the job:

  • Carrying out ophthalmic diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, biometry, fundus photography, and visual acuity assessment.
  • Preparing patients for clinical assessments and providing clear, compassionate explanations of diagnostic procedures.
  • Ensuring equipment is maintained, cleaned, and calibrated according to clinical standards.
  • Accurately documenting results and updating patient records and clinical systems.
  • Supporting consultants and nursing staff during ophthalmic clinics.
  • Upholding exceptional infection control standards and ensuring a safe, high-quality clinical environment.
  • Supporting administrative tasks as needed to maintain smooth clinic flow.
