Bank Contract - Ophthalmic Technician

The McIndoe Centre is renowned for its excellence in specialist surgical care, delivering personalised treatment within a welcoming, modern environment. We are now looking for a dedicated and motivated Ophthalmic Technician (Bank) to join our expanding clinical team. About the Role

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a key part in supporting our ophthalmology service by providing high-quality diagnostic testing and patient care. Working closely with consultants, nurses, and administrative teams, you will help ensure smooth and efficient clinic operations.

Main duties of the job:

• Carrying out ophthalmic diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, biometry, fundus photography, and visual acuity assessment.
• Preparing patients for clinical assessments and providing clear, compassionate explanations of diagnostic procedures.
• Ensuring equipment is maintained, cleaned, and calibrated according to clinical standards.
• Accurately documenting results and updating patient records and clinical systems.
• Supporting consultants and nursing staff during ophthalmic clinics.
• Upholding exceptional infection control standards and ensuring a safe, high-quality clinical environment.
• Supporting administrative tasks as needed to maintain smooth clinic flow.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in ophthalmic diagnostics.
• Confident using clinical equipment, IT systems, and electronic patient records.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Calm, reassuring, and able to put patients at ease during clinical procedures.
• A strong communicator with a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
• Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
