Horbury Academy are seekingto appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Girls’ Physical Educationto join our dedicated PE department. We are looking for a passionatepractitioner who is committed to delivering outstanding teaching and learningexperiences that motivate, challenge, and inspire pupils to achieve their fullpotential.
The successful candidatewill demonstrate a proven ability to deliver engaging, well-structured, andhigh-quality lessons across all key stages, creating a stimulating learningenvironment in which all pupils are encouraged to thrive. They will be anexcellent classroom practitioner with a strong understanding of effectiveteaching and learning strategies, using assessment confidently to monitorprogress, inform planning, and secure strong outcomes for all learners.
The postholder will havehigh expectations of every pupil and the ability to adapt teaching effectivelyto meet the needs of learners with diverse abilities, backgrounds, andeducational needs. They will be skilled in fostering positive relationships, maintaininghigh standards of behaviour, and creating an inclusive learning environmentwhere pupils feel supported, challenged, and motivated to succeed.
The ideal candidate will alsoplay a pivotal role in the continued success and development of the PE department,contributing to a broad and inclusive curriculum that promotes participation,enjoyment, achievement, and excellence. They will make a significantcontribution to our extensive extra-curricular programme, leading clubs,fixtures, competitions, and enrichment opportunities that enhance pupils'experiences and foster a strong culture of sporting participation and success.
This position is temporaryin the first instance to 31 August 2027.
About You
The successful candidatewill be…
- A qualified teacher holding QualifiedTeacher Status (QTS), with a relevant degree in Physical Education or a relatedfield.
- Passionate about promoting physical activityand sporting achievement for all pupils.
- Experienced in delivering high-quality PElessons across a range of key stages, with the ability to inspire and motivatelearners of all abilities.
- Knowledgeable about the PE curriculum andassessment requirements, with the ability to plan engaging lessons, developextracurricular sporting opportunities, and contribute to raising standards oft eaching and learning across the department.
- An excellent communicator with strongorganisational skills, and a commitment to fostering positive relationshipswith pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers.
