As a Student Experience Officer, you will play a crucial role in enriching the lives of our students. Your primary focus will be to engage with learners, fostering an environment of enrichment and enjoyment. Key Responsibilities- The Student Experience Officer – Enrichment (SEO) is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the holistic student experience within the college.
- Work closely with various curriculum areas and external student organizations to develop initiatives that promote student enhancement.
- Act as an advocate for students, address their concerns, provide guidance, and improve the overall student experience.
- Develop and implement the College’s Student Experience Strategy, including the calendar of events.
- Maintain a highly visible presence across all curriculum areas, encouraging, supporting, and leading by example.
- Work with the Student Experience Manager to develop, coordinate, and supervise a college-wide calendar of events.
- Provide a range of activities throughout the learner journey from enrolment through to supporting progression.
- Collaboratively develop, coordinate, and support a programme of cross-college student experience activities.
- Review the impact of all activities to ensure they embed Gatsby Benchmarks.
- Draft and create an annual report on Student Experience for SLT and Governors.
- Work with Curriculum Managers and Personal Development Tutors to monitor and review extra-curricular activities.
- Identify barriers to participation, support needs, safeguarding and welfare concerns.
- Assist with general learner activities including open evenings and enrolments.
- Perform other duties of a similar level of responsibility as required.
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience (A level or equivalent).
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
- Level 2 IT qualification or willingness to pursue one.
- Level 3 Preparing to Teach qualification.
- Previous work with young people or adults.
- Able to interact positively with young people and adults.
- Ability to use IT to a high level of competence.
- Ability to communicate, negotiate, and work effectively with internal and external partners.
- Ability to think creatively and introduce new concepts, themes, and fundraising activities for learners.
- Ability to keep and evaluate records and statistical data.
- Ability to work towards targets and across the college, including both campuses.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, enthusiasm, and motivation to encourage participation in events and ideas.
- Ability to work unsupervised, manage own time and priorities, and be well organized and self‑motivated.
- Flexibility and willingness to try out new ideas.
- Experience coordinating Duke of Edinburgh awards and volunteering opportunities.
- Experience and understanding of the Further Education sector.
- Experience working with mixed ages, cultures and abilities.
- Experience overseeing/monitoring a budget and building costings for events.
- Intermediate use of Microsoft applications.
- Ability to use college systems to generate information and improve efficiency.
