You will be responsible for providing effective leadership for the Work Based Tutors (WBT). Supporting and working with the Apprenticeship Data and Compliance manager, Apprenticeship Quality Practitioner and Director of Apprenticeships ensuring the apprenticeship area contributes and achieves the College's objectives of becoming an outstanding, innovative and customer focussed provider that ensures growth in recruitment and delivers service excellence for all.
Key Responsibilities- To manage the Work Based Tutors ensuring highly efficient delivery of the apprenticeship standards that is effective and meets the need of the apprentice and the employer.
- To lead and support curriculum innovation within the team to ensure the Apprenticeship offer is effective in meeting the needs of learners and employers in line with national, regional and local government agenda.
- To promote excellence in all aspects of the curriculum, management development and Innovation, and facilitate the sharing of best practice.
- Support the Apprenticeship Director to ensure that teams are consistently high performing through effective use of the College's performance management system, including conducting monthly 1-1 performance review meetings and annual appraisals.
- Lead, motivate and support the teams so that they can make a full and valued contribution to the development of the programme area.
- Co-ordinate internal and external verification processes, liaising with awarding bodies, external verifiers and the College's exams team.
- Support the Apprenticeship Quality Practitioner ensuring OFSTED requirements are consistently met for the quality delivery of apprenticeship programmes.
- Support the Data and Compliance Manager ensuring compliance with ESFA requirements and internal systems and processes.
- Effectively manage the programme teams to ensure all aspects of the College's quality assurance processes are fully implemented.
- Support the Director of Apprenticeships with the production of a robust self-assessment report engaging the work-based tutors to contribute.
- Support and lead the team to fully prepare for external/internal inspection.
- Support the Apprenticeship Quality and Compliance manager to ensure OneFile and Maytas audits, Work Based Tutor & peer observations, are carried out to meet College quality priorities.
- Ensure the co-ordination of all End point assessments (EPA) for apprenticeships are timely.
- Work with marketing and other partners to raise the profile of the provision and subsequent growth.
- Support in the development of commercial courses and apprenticeships, both in house and virtual, that meet the needs of employers when required.
- Ensure data information (e.g. projected achievements) are provided timely for the Apprenticeship Operational Group meeting.
- To be an active member of the College Wider Management Group.
- Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge.
- Any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required.
- Essential Criteria: L3 Qualification in a related Apprenticeship area
- Desirable Criteria: Degree and/or relevant professional qualification, Strong IT skills, L4 Internal Quality Assurance
Experience
- Essential Criteria: Recent experience Apprenticeship delivery, Academic/industrial/commercial experience in one of the areas of the Standards, Experience of using college wide systems, including OneFile/Maytas, Excellent IT skills with experience of using databases that assist in the managing and monitoring of apprenticeship delivery, Working with Apprenticeship and curriculum teams, Exceptional interpersonal skills, Ability to multi-task to ensure deadlines are met, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Desirable Criteria: Management experience including responsibility for quality, staff and Apprenticeship delivery
Specialist Knowledge
- Essential criteria: Knowledge of funding rules within Apprenticeships, Good understanding of End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs)
Skills & Expertise
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Capable of representing the College in a professional manner with external agencies and stakeholders
- Excellent organisational and prioritising skills
- The ability to lead a team and also work as part of a team
- Knowledge of the principles of data protection
- Ability to use technology to generate information and improve efficiency
