The Post Holder Will Be Expected:

  • To be a member of the wider Curriculum Leadership Team; developing, implementing, maintaining and reviewing the curriculum quality assurance processes at the college, recommending actions for change and supporting continuous improvement activity.
  • To support a culture of continuous improvement by assisting in the development and coordination of a quality framework that meets relevant sector requirements and is benchmarked against current sector, professional and industry best practice.
  • To lead and be responsible for rigorous and robust quality assurance strategies across all areas of curriculum provision.
  • To monitor and evaluate curriculum standards and performance within the College, reporting findings to the Head of Quality.
  • Lead on the implementation and improvement of curriculum performance measurement systems e.g. One Grade to facilitate the effective monitoring of student progress.
  • To work with the Teaching and Learning Quality Manager, supporting in the development of quality improvement strategies and providing assurance on the impact of quality improvement strategies.
  • To liaise with the Head of MIS in ensuring the curriculum performance reporting systems are fit for purpose and that reporting is effective in meeting the needs of the curriculum and quality management team.
  • Responsible for liaising with the head of exams ensuring the organisation is fully compliant with awarding body quality systems, including the reporting of student outcomes, qualification approvals, and EQA activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead, develop and effectively implement the Colleges strategy for quality assurance and drive identified initiatives to ensure that college targets are met.
  • To develop and coordinate the sharing of qualitative and quantitative data to support self-assessment and quality improvement frameworks ensuring Ofsted and other external requirements are met.
  • Reporting to the Head of Quality data necessary for course review and self-assessment ensuring Ofsted and other relevant external requirements are met.
  • Support the Head of Quality with the validation of the College Self-Assessment Report (SAR).
  • To ensure reports are available that support Curriculum Managers in writing their SARs and collate information for cross College sections within the whole college SAR.
  • Support the Head of Quality to effectively monitor progress against the College’s quality improvement plan.
  • To ensure the data for curriculum performance panel meetings is accurate, up to date and available in a timely manner to ensure the effectiveness of the quality assurance cycle.
  • To work with external awarding body organisations to ensure compliance with their quality assurance frameworks.
  • Lead and be responsible for robust quality assurance (audits and monitoring) processes.
  • To monitor and audit the effectiveness of all courses in delivering exemplary education to all students at the college.
  • Develop quality assurance practices that monitor compliance across all curriculum provision at the College.
  • To support the Head of Quality to ensure the college meets the compliance and performance requirements of the Open University and other HE partners.
  • To develop key performance indicators, specifically attendance, retention, progress, and attainment including the outcomes of exam-based qualifications in respect of all students at the college, using data to gain insights into student performance, ensuring full compliance with all college procedures and system.
  • Actively contribute to college Wider Management team.
  • Any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

Qualifications:

  • Essential Criteria: Degree or level 4 qualification; Educated to GCSE standard for both English and maths; Recognised Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification.
  • Desirable Criteria: Specialist quality assurance qualification or training; Recognised teaching qualification.

Experience:

  • Essential Criteria: Experience of initiating planning, and managing projects; Experience in assuring curriculum performance, including effective impact measurement of quality improvement strategies; Experience of developing and delivering a quality assurance framework across an organisation; Experience of working with Further Education teaching and learning quality systems; Experience of creating data to support underperforming areas make rapid and effective improvements.
  • Desirable Criteria: Experience of supporting colleagues through an Ofsted Inspection and or Office for Students QAA review; Delivery of staff development to support and improve data use and analysis; Experience of working as a Moderator, Senior Verifier, or External Quality Assurer (EQA).

Knowledge:

  • Essential Criteria: Excellent knowledge of working with recognised FE management information systems; Ability to use technology, e.g. excel in the generation of information to support the assurance of curriculum performance; Knowledge of current and possible future developments within the FE sector.

Skills & Qualities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with many internal & external stakeholders in various formats.
  • Ability to work independently and own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy to meet deadlines.
  • High level of analytical and reporting skills.
