Description
To provide high-quality learner coaching and tutorial support within the Skills for Life department. The post holder will primarily deliver 1:1 and small group tutorials, with a strong focus on monitoring and tracking learner progress across attendance, achievement, personal development, and wider learning goals.
The Learning Coach will play a central role in ensuring learners — many with SEND and additional support needs — receive consistent pastoral and academic guidance, helping them develop the skills, confidence and resilience required for success in education, employment, and independent living.
Key Responsibilities
The Learning Coach will:
- Provide structured 1:1 and group tutorials to monitor learner progress, attendance, achievement and personal development.
- Track and record learner progress effectively using College systems (ProMonitor, Teams, etc.), feeding back regularly to teaching staff and Curriculum Managers.
- Contribute to the delivery and reinforcement of wider tutorial themes, such as safeguarding, employability, resilience, British Values, and personal/social development.
- Support learners in setting, reviewing and achieving individual targets (including RARPA and EHCP outcomes where applicable).
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to learner support.
- Provide additional encouragement, motivation and pastoral care to promote learner well-being, engagement and independence.
- Maintain accurate records in line with College policies, ensuring that learner progress and interventions are captured clearly.
- Contribute to the wider Skills for Life team by participating in team meetings, CPD and quality improvement processes.
- Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and equality duties are carried out in line with College policy.

Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Minimum Level 2 in English and maths (or willingness to work towards).
- Relevant qualification in education, youth work, coaching, or equivalent experience.
