The postholder will oversee the basketball academy provision both in terms of training and practical performance while also supporting individual learner achievement within the classroom. The postholder will strategically plan training sessions and fixtures to ensure players within the academy gain an invaluable additional experience during their time as a Hopwood Hall College Sports Student.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend regular meetings.
- Implement policies and procedures as determined by college management.
- Deliver a range of programmes specific to Academy context.
- Prepare structured, developmental sessions and monitor students' progress.
- Maintain up-to-date records relating to the Academy (Registers, student progression).
- Assist in the marketing and publicity of section & Academy activities.
- Participate in the running of trials of new students.
- Transport students to and from fixtures along with supervising and coaching students while at the games.
- Contribute to the induction of the students.
- Play an effective part in the teamwork of the sports section.
- Operate within an equal opportunities framework and promote equality of opportunity in all aspects.
- Any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications
- Clean Driving Licence + D1 or Mini Bus Licence.
- Hold National Governing Body Coaching qualifications.
- Level 2+ Coaching Certificate in Basketball.
- First Aid Qualification.
Experience
- Sports specific background.
- Minimum of 1 year experience coaching.
Specialist Knowledge
- Specific sports coaching.
- Awareness of H&S Issues.
IT Skills
- Intermediate level of Microsoft applications.
- Willing to undertake IT training relevant to their role.
