Dependant on service need, on site Mon-Thurs, 09:30-14:30 Monday & Wednesday: Bedford (09:30-14:30); Tuesday & Thursday: Shefford (09:30-14:30).
Location: Bedford Town Centre and Shefford, Bedfordshire.
Our ESOL service was established in 2017 and now runs 5 days per week, offering English lessons for resettled refugees and an English Club with an emphasis on learning skills for integration into UK society. We are a growing team of ESOL tutors and creche teams providing training to help refugees and their families to resettle in Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire.
The ESOL Tutor team teach, plan, deliver and assess learners of English as a second language. Group classes are provided to resettled adults and run at Pre-Entry, Beginner, Elementary and Pre-Intermediate Levels at our teaching locations in Shefford and Bedford.
About The Role:
This role serves to support the delivery of high quality, formal scheduled ESOL teaching. The ESOL Cover Tutor will provide short or long-term cover of group classes at our sites in Shefford & Bedford in instances of staff absence due to sickness or training. In the event of staff absence, the ESOL Cover Tutor will be asked to cover classes at short notice. In such eventualities session plans for the class will be provided. In the event of longer term cover, the ESOL Cover Tutor will be responsible for lesson planning, delivery, assessment and review.
This role will be required to cover classes on:
- February 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th;
- March 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th;
- April 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th;
- June 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th;
- July 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 13th, 14th;
- October 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd.
There will be additional cover work as per service need in the event of other teachers attending training or staff sickness. The successful candidate will be required to attend induction training prior to commencing teaching, and to attend our teacher training days on March 13th, 14th, 20th; May 5th; July 15th, 16th; September 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.
Due to the post being based in two locations, it is essential for the successful applicant to have a full UK Driving Licence and access to a car, or have the ability to use public transport at short notice to get to each site.
