Lead day-to-day crèche sessions supporting children (6 months–school age) whose parents attend ESOL classes, ensuring a safe, engaging environment that supports their development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Session leadership & childcare
  • Lead daily crèche sessions and support staff in their roles
  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for all children
  • Monitor children’s development and maintain learning records
  • Carry out progress checks (e.g. 2–3 year olds)
  • Safeguarding & wellbeing
    • Ensure high standards of safeguarding, health & safety, hygiene, and care
    • Identify and report any concerns (including additional needs or safeguarding issues)
    • Provide first aid and respond to children’s immediate needs
  • Team support & coordination
    • Guide and support team members to work effectively with children
    • Allocate staff across activities and ensure smooth session delivery
    • Work closely with Senior Practitioner, ESOL team, and caseworkers
  • Communication & relationships
    • Build positive relationships with parents/carers
    • Share updates on children’s progress and any concerns
    • Liaise with internal teams and external agencies where needed
  • Administration & planning
    • Complete registers, reports, observations, and planning documents
    • Maintain accurate records (accidents, incidents, development logs, etc.)
    • Prepare resources and ensure the space is set up and cleared daily

    General Expectations

    • Follow all policies and procedures (especially safeguarding and confidentiality)
    • Contribute to team working, training, and service improvement
    • Act as a professional role model at all times
