We are looking for a proactive, friendly and organised Deputy Charity Shop Manager to support the running of our Pontyclun shop. You’ll help create a welcoming, vibrant retail space that drives income, builds community and supports the vital rescue and rehabilitation of dogs who deserve a second chance.
As our Deputy Manager, you will:
- Support the Manager with the day-to-day running of our Pontyclun shop.
- Provide hands-on leadership to volunteers, helping them feel confident, motivated and valued.
- Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring every visitor receives a warm welcome.
- Assist with stock processing, pricing, rotation and merchandising to maximise sales.
- Help ensure the shop is clean, safe, and compliant with all Hope Rescue procedures.
- Take responsibility for opening/closing the shop and supervising shifts when the Manager is off-site.
- Support accurate cash handling, daily banking, and administrative tasks.
- Build strong local relationships to encourage donations, footfall and community engagement.
What we’re looking for:
- You’ll thrive in this role if you are experienced in retail (charity retail experience is a bonus but not essential).
- A natural person who enjoys leading and supporting volunteers.
- Positive, reliable and able to take initiative when needed.
- Organised, adaptable, and confident managing busy periods.
