Hope House Children’s Hospices has an opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our team based in Oswestry. The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week) on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £43,201 – £48,878 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties:

  • Prepare management accounts, year‑end preparation and audit support.
  • Forecast, budget and maintain payroll functions.
  • Ensure good financial governance, compliance with regulations and best practice.
  • Lead and develop a finance team, reporting to the Head of Finance.
  • Assist with financial planning and allocation of resources across the charity.
  • Permit occasional travel within Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales.

Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years’ management experience within a finance function.
  • Experience with management accounts, audit support, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct.
  • High level of IT proficiency and comfort with digital working.
  • Hands‑on leadership style with a “sleeves rolled up” approach.

Person Specification:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or comparable level.
  • At least two years’ management experience in a finance function.
  • Exceptional numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead, develop and get the best from a team.
  • High level of IT proficiency and comfort with digital working.
  • Process automation and system optimisation experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent time‑management and initiative.
  • Effective written and verbal communication of complex information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, including profit & loss, balance sheets and cash flow.
  • Knowledge of accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct.
  • Familiarity with VAT, Corporation Tax, payroll, pensions and benefits regulations.
  • Understanding of budgeting, including zero‑based budgeting.
  • Experience with group accounts and inter‑company transactions.
  • Understanding of financial metrics and data interpretation.
  • Proficiency in technology and the ability to apply specialist expertise.
  • Capability to plan and organise, set objectives, manage resources and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures appropriately, complying with legal and regulatory obligations.
