Responsibilities:

  • Material Sourcing & Purchasing: Identify and procure essential construction materials, such as aggregates, drainage, concrete, and other supplies.
  • Subcontract Sourcing & Purchasing: Source and purchase subcontractor services required for various projects.
  • Contract Negotiations: Work closely with suppliers to secure the best value while maintaining quality standards.
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Continuously assess and monitor supplier performance to ensure reliability and quality.
  • Procurement Software: Utilise procurement software to place orders and review invoices.
  • Relationship Management: Build, manage, and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers, site teams, and other construction professionals.

Person Specification:

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in purchasing materials and subcontractor services within the civil engineering or construction sectors.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail, with an analytical and methodical approach to procurement activities.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with procurement software and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Material Take-off Ability: Capable of extracting material quantities from construction drawings to ensure accurate procurement. Potentially a background in Quantity Surveying.
