The Maintenance Engineer role provides a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their skillset and help play a vital role within the company's growth by ensuring high standards are consistently maintained, along with compliance throughout our portfolio of buildings. Working within the operations team and reporting into the Head of Property, the position shall be responsible for routine building maintenance. Following initial onboarding, the Maintenance Assistant will undergo continuous training and direction from the Head of Property to allow them to carry out scheduled and non-scheduled tasks.

The Role

  • Carry out scheduled maintenance and testing (i.e. fire alarm call point testing, water flushing etc).
  • Carrying out reactive tasks assigned via our system to brand standards.
  • Ensure that all maintenance issues are carried out in a timely fashion and in line with our daily working procedures.
  • End of tenancy painting and decorating.
  • Follow policies and procedures.
  • Management of cleaning standards ensuring buildings are left clean and tidy following completion of works.
  • Organising and updating supplier information and supply/stock information.
  • Ensuring stock levels are maintained.

General Tasks May Include (training will be provided on each item to ensure best practices are followed)

  • Decorating (painting, sanding, filling).
  • Moving furniture.
  • Low voltage electrical works (i.e. changing light bulbs, PAT testing).
  • Basic carpentry.
  • Fixing door handles, hinges, closers.
  • Minor plumbing work.
  • Hanging whiteboards, TVs, clocks etc.
  • Building furniture.

Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs grade C or above or similar international qualification (preferred but not essential).
  • Interest in DIY and maintenance.
  • Willingness to learn on the job and develop practical skills.
  • Be able to undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical and painting/finishing trades.
  • Ability to work with smart phone applications.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
