Role Overview
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all gym facilities, equipment, and building systems are maintained to the highest standards. You will play a key role in safeguarding the operational excellence and aesthetic integrity of our sites, ensuring a seamless experience for members and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance
- Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs across multiple Central London sites.
- Maintain gym equipment (cardio, strength, and functional fitness machines), lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Oversee maintenance of changing rooms, spa areas, and other member facilities.
- Ensure all sites are consistently presented to a luxury, brand-aligned standard.
- Compliance & Safety
- Maintain compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Carry out risk assessments and record maintenance logs accurately.
- Support the Facilities Manager in contractor management, safety checks, and planned maintenance schedules.
- Operational Support
- Respond swiftly to urgent maintenance issues to minimize downtime and disruption.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and site teams to coordinate repairs and replacements.
- Support new site openings, refurbishments, and minor project works when required.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance role (preferably within hospitality, leisure, or high-end retail environments).
- Strong practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and general building maintenance.
- Experience maintaining fitness equipment (Technogym, Life Fitness, or similar brands desirable).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently across multiple sites.
- Good communication skills, professional presentation, and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering).
- Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and HVAC systems.
- Experience working in luxury or design-led environments.
