An established specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager / Senior Contracts Manager to oversee the successful delivery of fire door and specialist joinery projects across the UK. This is a hands-on, site-focused role suited to someone who enjoys being close to project delivery. You will spend a significant amount of time travelling between live sites, supporting teams, meeting clients, monitoring quality and programme, and resolving issues on the ground. This is not a predominantly office-based management position.

We're looking for someone with strong practical and technical knowledge who is comfortable taking ownership of multiple projects and getting involved when required.

The Role

You will manage multiple projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover, with responsibilities including:

  • Regular travel to live projects throughout the UK
  • Managing multiple fire door, remediation and specialist joinery contracts
  • Supporting and managing Site Managers, Supervisors, installers and subcontractors
  • Monitoring site progress, workmanship, productivity and compliance
  • Resolving practical and technical issues on site
  • Planning labour and resources across multiple projects
  • Managing programmes and ensuring deadlines are achieved
  • Coordinating materials, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Monitoring budgets, labour costs and overall commercial performance
  • Managing variations, applications, invoices and forecasting
  • Maintaining high standards of fire door installation and remediation
  • Ensuring QA, photographic evidence, certification and handover documentation are completed correctly
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, surveys and schedules
  • Attending client meetings and providing progress updates
  • Ensuring RAMS and health & safety requirements are maintained

About You

We're particularly interested in candidates from a fire door, passive fire, specialist joinery or carpentry background who have progressed into project or contracts management. You could currently be working as a Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager, Project Manager or Passive Fire Operations Manager. You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong fire door installation and/or remediation knowledge
  • Experience managing multiple live projects
  • Experience managing site teams, supervisors and subcontractors
  • Good labour and resource planning skills
  • Procurement and material coordination experience
  • Commercial awareness including budgets, costs, variations and applications
  • Strong client-facing skills
  • Good understanding of quality assurance and compliance
  • Experience taking projects from mobilisation through to handover
  • SMSTS CSCS Manager Card or equivalent
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to undertake regular nationwide travel

FIRAS, FDIS, IOSH, First Aid and other relevant passive fire qualifications would be advantageous. This opportunity would particularly suit someone who enjoys being out on site, working closely with delivery teams and taking ownership of projects, rather than someone looking for a desk-based senior management role.
