We’re recruiting a Senior IT & Cybersecurity Manager for an established and growing business based at its head office in Frodsham. This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility for the company’s IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity and technology operations. We’re looking for someone who can take genuine ownership of the IT environment – setting the direction and advising senior management, but equally being prepared to get hands-on and resolve complex technical issues when required.

The role You’ll take responsibility for:

  • IT infrastructure, systems, networks, cloud services and endpoints
  • IT and cybersecurity strategy, policies and standards
  • Microsoft 365, Azure and Entra ID
  • Servers, networks, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi, storage and backups
  • Identity and access management, MFA and privileged access
  • Endpoint security, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management and patching
  • Security monitoring and threat management
  • Cybersecurity incident response and recovery
  • Disaster recovery, business continuity and cyber resilience
  • IT and security risk assessments
  • IT suppliers, cybersecurity partners and technology vendors
  • Hardware, software and technology procurement
  • IT projects, upgrades, migrations and system implementations
  • Security and infrastructure documentation
  • Supporting data protection and cybersecurity compliance
  • Reporting on IT performance, security, vulnerabilities, incidents and risk
  • Advising senior management on technology risks, investment and improvements

What we’re looking for This role would suit a highly experienced IT professional with around 10+ years’ relevant experience, including significant exposure to cybersecurity. Your background could be as an IT Manager, Infrastructure Manager, Head of IT, Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Cybersecurity Manager or similar, providing you have the breadth of technical experience and are still comfortable being hands-on. We’re particularly interested in experience across areas such as:

  • Microsoft 365, Azure and Entra ID / Active Directory
  • Windows Server and Windows endpoint environments
  • Networking, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP and VPNs
  • Firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR/XDR and SIEM
  • Identity and access management
  • Vulnerability management and system hardening
  • Cyber incident response
  • Backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Cloud and SaaS security
  • IT asset management, licensing and procurement
  • Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, NIST and/or GDPR
  • Managing IT suppliers and technology projects

We’re not looking for someone who simply manages outsourced suppliers. You’ll need to be technically strong, commercially aware and comfortable getting involved yourself when required. You’ll also need to be able to communicate technical and cybersecurity risks clearly to directors and non-technical stakeholders and have the confidence to make senior technical decisions.

Salary: £70,000–£85,000 depending on experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT and cybersecurity professional who wants genuine ownership of a company’s technology environment and the opportunity to shape how it develops as the business continues to grow.
