Optical Assistant – 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Littleborough, Greater Manchester
We’re looking for a friendly, organised and customer‑focused Optical Assistant with Dispensing experience to join our independent practice in Littleborough on a 6-12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to be part of a welcoming, professional practice where excellent patient care is at the heart of what we do.
The Role
Working alongside our optometrists and dispensing team, you’ll help ensure our patients receive a warm welcome and a great experience from the moment they contact the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and managing appointments
- Providing excellent front‑of‑house and telephone support
- Assisting patients with frame selection
- Supporting spectacle collections, adjustments and general optical queries
- Processing orders and maintaining accurate patient records
- Taking payments and assisting with day‑to‑day practice administration
- Helping keep the practice organised, professional and running smoothly
- Supporting the wider team wherever needed
About You
Previous experience in anoptical practice would be an advantage, but we’re also happy to consider someone with strong customer service or healthcare experience and the right attitude.

Qualifications

- Candidates should demonstrate basic knowledge or an interest in Optometry to support clinical activities such as pre‑screening and to understand the products and services offered.
- Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service skills to manage appointments, handle inquiries, and assist patients with frame and lens choices.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include prior experience in optical or healthcare settings, comfort with point‑of‑sale and practice management systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.
- A willingness to learn, flexibility to support varied tasks in the practice, and a professional, patient‑centered approach are essential.
