Herefordshire Council seeks a passionate, knowledgeable and RB3 Principal Building Control Surveyor to lead its Building Control Team, driving operational delivery and administrative oversight of the building control service.
Responsibilities
- Lead an existing team of Building Control Surveyors and Technical Support Officers under the Building Control Manager.
- Provide day‑to‑day operational service, including regulation applications, site inspections, building safety levy charges, pre‑application advice, potentially dangerous structure reports and enforcement enquiries.
- Deputise for the Building Control Manager as necessary.
- Work closely with IT providers to maintain accurate computer records and produce periodic data reports.
- Support the council’s project work and report directly to the Building Control Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Demonstrable experience as a registered building inspector with a deep understanding of building safety regulation.
- Strong knowledge of building control, regulatory issues and current legislation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple work streams against tight deadlines.
