Salary: HC8 £36,363 - £40,777 (plus £5,000 market rate supplement per year £41,363 - £45,777)

About the Role

Work closely with children, families, colleagues and partner agencies to provide support and intervention services through the Family Help programme. Safeguard children, collaborate with the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT) and contribute to timely protective interventions. Lead and manage a complex caseload as the Family Help Lead Practitioner, delivering effective help, protection and intervention. Assess needs, identify risks and develop tailored Family Help Plans in partnership with agencies to coordinate multi‑agency support. Chair and participate in key meetings such as Child in Need, core group and strategy discussions. Carry out risk assessments, safeguarding work and produce accurate, clear, high‑quality reports and court documents. Build restorative relationships with families and professionals to promote safety and welfare of children, including those in the looked‑after system. Maintain high standards of practice within statutory frameworks, including the Children Acts 1989 and 2004 and Working Together 2021.

About You

Qualified Social Worker (Social Work Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent) with current Social Work England registration. Experience working with children and families in a statutory social care setting, with strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and relevant legislation. Skilled in risk assessment, analysis of complex family dynamics and delivery of effective interventions. Effective communicator able to build trusted, empathetic relationships with children, families and multi‑agency professionals. Organised and resilient, capable of managing a demanding workload, accurate record‑keeping and producing clear reports. Committed to ongoing professional development and improving outcomes for children and families while upholding values of trust, honesty, responsibility, inclusivity and empathy.
