Herefordshire Pupil Referral Service (HPRS) is offering a unique opportunity for a senior leader to work alongside the Head of Service with responsibility of running the St. David’s Centre. This is an exciting time to join HPRS due to the future growth of the service, with the aim of St. David’s and Aconbury coming together on one site to expand the alternative provision offer for the young people of Herefordshire.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for curriculum development at the St. David’s Centre.
- Holding the post of Lead Internal Verifier connected to our BTEC and ASDAN qualifications.
- Work alongside the Associate Assistant Headteachers for both Behaviour and Teaching and Learning to ensure the smooth running of the centre.
- Support the efficient and safe running of the school, including acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead in the absence of the Headteacher.
- Responsibility for managing and developing the school’s careers strategy, aligning it with national benchmarks.
HPRS offers a secure and inclusive learning environment designed to foster independence and self-confidence in its students. Supported by a dedicated Management Committee and a highly skilled staff team, the service provides specialized education for pupils who require an alternative to mainstream education. You will be joining a team which works hard to create a positive and caring community that puts children at the heart of everything we do.
Skills and Qualifications
- Candidates will need to be patient and understanding of difficulties that can be experienced by our pupils and have excellent communication skills.
- Support the education, care and welfare of pupils, under the direction of the Headteacher.
- Help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
- Be an excellent classroom practitioner, due to a small teaching commitment.
- Improve pupil’s confidence, motivation, social skills and relationships, enabling them to face new and challenging situations.
- Improve pupils’ attendance and punctuality.
- Work on your own initiative.
- Be a good timekeeper, flexible, accommodating and a team player.
- Good sense of humour.
