The Role
As a Technical Support Officer, you’ll play an essential part in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the Building Control service. This is a varied and customer‑focused role requiring strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate confidently with colleagues, stakeholders and communities in Herefordshire. The primary purpose of the role is to provide high‑quality technical and administrative support, manage Building Control applications and information, and ensure all data is handled in line with audited processes.
Responsibilities
- Validate and acknowledge Building Regulation applications through the Civica system, ensuring all required forms, documentation and fees are correct.
- Manage departmental income, including processing payments, banking fees daily, and raising invoices and financial purchases.
- Provide frontline support, responding to queries received via the Building Control and Street Naming & Numbering inboxes.
- Book and schedule site inspections for Building Control Inspectors, maintaining accurate entries within Civica diary systems.
- Handle internal and external mail and maintain statutory registers and electronic filing systems.
- Carry out Local Land Charges and Personal Searches, ensuring relevant Building Control information is accurately revealed from Civica.
- Produce approval documents, certificates, and general correspondence linked to Building Regulation applications.
- Support Building Control Inspectors with administrative and technical tasks on a daily basis.
- Contribute to continuous service improvements and help achieve Building Control Performance Indicators.
