The Role

We are seeking an experienced customs and international trade professional to join our growing consultancy practice. You'll be handling sophisticated client enquiries, leading complex projects, and working autonomously on technical trade matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle sophisticated client enquiries independently on customs and technical trade matters
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programmes to client organisations
  • Provide expert consultancy on free trade agreements, market analysis, and trade route optimisation
  • Support research and analysis for strategic international trade projects
  • Manage key client relationships and project delivery
  • Maintain current knowledge of evolving international trade regulations
  • Apply practical, hands-on expertise gained from direct experience with customs procedures and compliance challenges

Essential Requirements

  • Practical, hands-on customs and international trade expertise with recent experience personally managing customs procedures, classifications, and compliance matters
  • Strategic trade consulting experience with free trade agreements, market analysis, trade route planning
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and client relationships autonomously
  • (5+ years minimum) in customs and international trade
  • Industry experience in manufacturing, distribution, trading companies, government department such as HMRC or freight forwarding
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with senior business stakeholders
  • Experience resolving complex trade compliance challenges

Highly Desirable

  • Export licensing experience, including dual-use goods and strategic trade controls
  • Degree in Business, International Trade, Law, or related discipline
  • Professional qualifications (Institute of Export, customs certifications)
  • Previous consultancy or advisory experience
