Are you an experienced Social Worker with a passion for supporting adults with learning disabilities to live meaningful, independent lives? We're working with Vale of Glamorgan Social Services to recruit a social worker to join their dedicated Learning Disabilities Team on a short-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a supportive service where strengths-based practice and person‑centred planning are genuinely embedded.

About the role

You’ll be working closely with individuals and their families to promote independence, wellbeing, and choice—ensuring people can lead fulfilled and purposeful lives within their communities.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities

  • Carrying out assessments and care planning
  • Delivering person‑centred and strengths‑based interventions
  • Managing a caseload within a Learning Disabilities team
  • Working collaboratively with families, carers, and multi‑agency partners
  • Ensuring plans are outcome‑focused and meet performance standards

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience within Learning Disabilities services (essential)
  • Strong skills in assessment, care planning, and care management
  • Confident using IT systems and managing workloads effectively
  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach with a strong value base
  • A minimum of 6 months experience of working in the UK as a registered social worker
  • A relevant Social Work Qualification
  • Registration with Social Care Wales / Social Work England
  • Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS
  • 3 Years of referencing
  • Driving licence with access to a car
