Social Worker - Child Disability Team (CDT) Swansea
Full Time Initial 6 Month Contract Hybrid Working
Hoop Social Work are currently recruiting for an experienced Children's Social Worker to join Swansea's specialist Child Disability Team on a locum basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to join a highly supportive and experienced team providing statutory intervention and support to children and young people with disabilities and their families. The Child Disability Team undertakes varied and meaningful work with children who often present with complex needs, ensuring children and families receive the right support, protection and long-term planning to achieve positive outcomes.
The role offers exposure to specialist and complex practice, including work within the court arena, looked-after children responsibilities and transition planning into adult services.
What you can expect in the role:
- Working with children and young people with disabilities and their families
- Managing complex statutory casework
- Undertaking court work and public law proceedings
- Supporting looked-after children and care planning processes
- Completing Deprivation of Liberty related work where required
- Contributing to robust transition planning into adult services
- Multi-agency partnership working across health, education and wider services
- Hybrid working model with office attendance on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Swansea Guildhall
- Fridays operate as a full team office day to support collaboration, peer support and team connectivity
This role would suit a compassionate and experienced practitioner who enjoys relationship-based practice and is confident managing complex work whilst maintaining a child-centred approach.

- A Social Work qualification
- Registration with Social Care Wales
- A minimum of 6 months UK Social Work experience
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- 3 years' references
