We're recruiting for an Employability Officer to join a well-established, employee-owned training and employability organisation supporting people across South Wales. This is a really rewarding role where you'll work closely with local employers to uncover job opportunities and quality work placements, matching individuals with opportunities that can genuinely help shape their future.
The role
You'll be out in the local business community, developing relationships with employers across Blackwood, Cwmbran and Newport and creating opportunities for young people and unemployed adults. Your role will include:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with local employers
- Proactively sourcing sustainable job opportunities and work placements
- Identifying and approaching new businesses to develop employer partnerships
- Matching participants to suitable vacancies and placements
- Supporting participants to overcome barriers and sustain employment
- Completing workplace health and safety assessments and risk assessments
- Gathering job start evidence in line with contract requirements
- Developing a strong understanding of the local labour market
- Representing the organisation at networking, marketing and employer events
What we're looking for
We're keen to speak to people who have experience within employability, recruitment, employer engagement, welfare-to-work or a similar environment. You'll ideally have:
- Experience supporting unemployed adults and/or young people
- A proven ability to source job opportunities or work placements
- Experience developing new employer or business relationships
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Confidence approaching and engaging with new businesses
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
You'll also need to be comfortable travelling across the Blackwood, Cwmbran and Newport areas. A DBS check and EWC registration will be required, with the cost of the DBS covered by the employer.
