Make a real impact on the quality and safety of people’s homes. Hoop Housing are looking for an experienced Damp & Mould Surveyor to join a Bristol based housing association and play a key role in improving the condition of their customers’ homes. This is an opportunity for a technically minded surveyor who enjoys solving complex building issues, diagnosing defects, and delivering practical solutions that make a genuine difference.

Working across housing stock, you will take ownership of your own portfolio of damp and mould projects — from initial inspection and diagnosis through to completion. You will carry out detailed surveys of customer homes and communal areas, define scopes of work, provide technical advice, and work closely with contractors and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The role

  • Carry out building inspections, diagnostics and technical assessments to identify root causes of damp, mould and condensation issues
  • Develop effective remediation solutions and produce clear scopes of work
  • Manage projects from survey through to completion, ensuring quality, compliance and value for money
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues, contractors and stakeholders
  • Attend customer homes and communicate findings clearly, providing confidence and reassurance throughout the process
  • Support pathology investigations, testing and evidence gathering where required
  • Attend pre-start and pre-build meetings and work collaboratively with subcontractors
  • Manage competing priorities while delivering projects within agreed timescales and budgets

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same — combining technical surveying expertise, customer engagement and project management.

About you

You’ll be an experienced housing or building surveyor with a strong understanding of residential properties and building defects. You will have:

  • A HNC/HND qualification in Construction or a related discipline
  • Proven surveying experience within housing, property maintenance or building services
  • Experience investigating and managing damp, mould and condensation cases
  • Strong knowledge of building diagnostics, defect identification and remedial solutions
  • An understanding of HHSRS risks and housing health standards
  • The ability to identify asbestos-containing materials and understand associated risks
  • Experience managing multiple projects and working with contractors
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and stakeholders

You’ll be organised, accountable and proactive, with a practical approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle or alternative transport is required due to the nature of the role.

If you’re a surveyor who wants to use your technical expertise to improve homes, solve challenging building issues and make a lasting difference, we’d love to hear from you.
