Hoop Social Work are looking for an experienced and passionate Fostering Social Worker to join Bridgend County Borough Council’s Placements & General Fostering Team on a locum basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive fostering service where you’ll play a key role in supporting foster carers and ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people across the region.

The team are ideally looking for someone on a full-time basis, although compressed hours can be considered for the right candidate, providing flexibility around service needs can be offered — including availability to work Fridays.

What you can expect in the role:

  • Working as a Supervising Social Worker within the General Fostering Service
  • Managing a caseload of foster carers
  • Completing Form F Assessments and Annual Reviews
  • Participating in duty cover across both Kinship and General Fostering services (approximately 2 office-based duty days per month)
  • Attending weekly Wednesday team briefs and meetings at the Civic Offices
  • Hybrid working with a balance of home and office working

This role would suit a social worker who has a sound understanding of fostering legislation and practice standards, alongside strong assessment, communication and relationship-building skills.

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A Social Work qualification
  • Registration with Social Care Wales or Social Work England
  • A minimum of 6 months UK Social Work experience
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • 3 years’ references
