Social Worker Family Support Team (North)
Pay rate £38.43 per hour, in line with the All Wales Pledge.
This is a locum opportunity within Monmouthshire Social Services' Family Support and Protection Team North, covering Usk, Monmouth, and Abergavenny.
Hybrid working based at Usk, 2 days from home. Contract for an initial 3‑6 months to cover a permanent position.

- Role & Responsibilities
- Responsible for assessment and planning for children, young people and their families who require social care involvement to ensure health, well-being, and protection from neglect and abuse.
- Complete assessments and progress plans that evidence improvement in welfare within an appropriate time frame.
- Prepare written evidence and progress cases to legal proceedings.
- Manage high‑level statutory intervention cases including child protection, private and public law cases.
- Responsible for adoption orders where required.
- To apply for this role, you will need to hold
- A minimum of 6 months’ experience working in the UK as a registered social worker
- A relevant social work qualification
- Registration with Social Care Wales or Social Work England
- Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or willingness to apply for a DBS
- 3 years of referencing
- Driving licence with access to a car
