Overview
Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) – Wiltshire Council. Hybrid working in Wiltshire. 37 hours per week. 2 positions available. Initial contract until mid-September.
- Role and Responsibilities
- Chair statutory reviews for looked after children and provide independent scrutiny of care planning.
- Ensure children's voices remain at the centre of decision-making.
- Challenge practice where required and monitor quality and effectiveness of care planning.
- Collaborate with professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children.
About You / Qualifications
- Qualified Social Worker with significant post-qualification experience, including a strong background in Looked After Children services; Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) practice; chairing statutory reviews; safeguarding children and promoting positive outcomes.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance; strong communication, analytical and organisational skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months' UK experience as a registered Social Worker.
- Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent).
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Enhanced DBS, registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
- Ability to provide 3 years of employment references.
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.

Hybrid working model: 50% office-based; remaining time split between home working and visits.
