Overview

Qualified Social Worker – Assessment Team – Somerset Council, Bridgwater. Full-Time Agency Contract. PAYE: £28.41 per hour. Limited/Umbrella: £38.00 per hour.

Hoop Social Work is recruiting an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join Somerset Council's Assessment Team based in Bridgwater.

This is a child-focused role in the Sedgemoor locality, conducting high-quality assessments and safeguarding work to support outcomes for children and families.

Working pattern: Full-time; Hybrid working generally 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. During duty week, attendance in the office will be required 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete high-quality, child-centred assessments of need and risk.
  • Manage a varied caseload of children and families within Child Protection and Safeguarding.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children and families using strengths-based and trauma-informed practice.
  • Develop and review outcome-focused care plans that reflect the child’s voice.
  • Undertake statutory visits, assessments and reviews in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Prepare clear, evidence-based reports and assessments for managers, partner agencies and court proceedings where required.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children and improve outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate case records and contribute to quality assurance and service improvement.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months' experience working in the UK as a registered Social Worker.
  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working within Children's Safeguarding and Child Protection services.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • The ability to provide 3 years of referencing.
  • A full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
  • Due to the role, sponsorship is not available; only candidates meeting these criteria will be considered.
