Overview
Somerset Council is seeking an experienced locum Social Worker for the Children Looked After Team in Yeovil, South Somerset.
The team currently has 10 social workers and was rated 'Good' in an internal inspection, with several areas rated 'Outstanding'.
Responsibilities
- Hold a mixed caseload of children aged 0β18, with placements potentially anywhere in the country; travel is essential.
- Attend office once a week for team meetings and on-duty cover days (approximately 4 days per month); otherwise flexible and remote working is supported.
- Complete high-quality, child-centred assessments, care and pathway plans, court and adoption work, later life letters, and life story books.
- Contribute to TAC and PEP meetings, maintain accurate records, and participate in duty, supervision and service improvement.
Qualifications
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Solid experience in a statutory children\'s looked after setting; experience across the full age range 0β18 is desirable.
- Strong court and assessment skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle due to travel requirements.

Pay rate in line with the pledge: Β£38 Umbrella. Office attendance required as noted above. Remote working supported where appropriate.
