Teaching Assistant | 1:1 Support | Behaviour Support | SEN / ALN
Hoop Education are recruiting for an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within a welcoming primary school in Cardiff.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Behaviour Support Assistant who is confident supporting children with behavioural needs and can build a positive, trusting relationship with an individual pupil.
About the Role
You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil, helping them to engage positively with their learning and manage behaviour throughout the afternoon.
The role will involve
- Providing consistent 1:1 support to an individual pupil
- Supporting a pupil with behavioural and emotional needs
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the child
- Encouraging engagement, confidence and participation in learning
- Supporting positive behaviour and helping the pupil regulate their emotions
- Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
- Following the school's behaviour, safeguarding and support procedures
- Adapting your approach according to the pupil's individual needs
- Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who has relevant experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs.

The successful candidate will be
- Patient, calm and consistent
- Confident managing challenging behaviour
- Able to build strong relationships with children
- Understanding of SEN / ALN and behavioural needs
- Adaptable and able to respond to individual needs
- Reliable, professional and enthusiastic
- Comfortable working as part of a school team
Essential Requirements
You must have
- Previous relevant experience supporting children/young people
- Experience working with behavioural needs
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Current registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Availability Monday–Friday afternoons
