Hoop Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected not-for-profit organisation in the search for a Building Surveyor to join their friendly and dedicated team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to use your technical knowledge to help older, vulnerable and disabled people remain safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes.
Covering Bristol and Bath, you'll work closely with Case Workers to deliver repair, maintenance and adaptation projects from initial survey through to completion.
This is a varied role where you'll manage your own projects, build strong relationships with customers and contractors, and make a real difference every day.
The Role
- Survey domestic properties to identify repair, maintenance and adaptation requirements, providing practical recommendations and cost estimates.
- Produce CAD drawings, designs and specifications to support planning and building control applications.
- Prepare schedules of work, obtain and assess contractor quotations and tenders, and administer building contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage projects from survey through to completion, monitoring contractors to ensure work is delivered safely, to a high standard and in line with CDM and Health & Safety requirements.
- Provide professional advice on repairs, alterations, renovations, extensions and adaptations, ensuring compliance with planning legislation, building regulations and sustainability standards.
- Work collaboratively with Case Workers, Local Authorities, planning bodies, building inspectors, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver the best outcomes for customers.
About You
You'll be an experienced Building Surveyor with a passion for delivering high-quality projects and excellent customer service.
Essential
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Building Surveying, Surveying, Interior Architecture or Construction.
- Proven experience using CAD software to produce accurate technical drawings.
- Experience delivering domestic residential projects requiring planning permission, building regulations approval and compliance with CDM .
- Experience managing building contracts and overseeing external contractors from project inception through to completion.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Full UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle and the ability to travel frequently between Bristol and Bath .
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
• Desirable
- Experience delivering Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) projects or domestic adaptations for disabled and vulnerable homeowners.
- Knowledge of the Decent Homes Standard, Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and energy efficiency or retrofit measures.
- Health & Safety qualifications or additional training.
- Experience working with listed buildings and heritage properties.
