Permanent Veterinary Pharmacy Assistant

Location: Hook Norton, Oxfordshire | Hours: 40 hours/week – Monday to Friday

We are looking for a Pharmacy Assistant who’s eager to learn, grow, and make a real contribution, helping keep the practice running smoothly and making a difference every day.

This role plays a key part in delivering a seamless pharmacy service across our Small Animal, Equine, and Farm Departments. You will work closely with our fabulous team of Vets, Nurses, Receptionists, and other colleagues, so strong communication skills are really important. Making sure we have the right medications in the right place at the right time helps keep everything on track. So being organised, thinking on your feet, and managing multiple requests efficiently will be where you thrive. As you grow into the role, you will be encouraged to share your ideas and contribute to improving the way we do things in the pharmacy team. You will also need to be flexible, stepping in to help during periods of leave and using your problem‑solving skills to keep everything running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Checking, unpacking and storing stock deliveries
  • Processing orders, and maintaining accurate pharmacy and client records using both our veterinary system and Excel
  • Conducting regular audits/stock checks to ensure accuracy
  • Monitoring fridge temperatures and carrying out regular audits
  • Managing and overseeing stock movement between sites
  • Responding to emails and taking action on relevant tasks
  • Checking product dates and overseeing stock rotation
  • Source and research products
  • Resolve pharmacy-related tasks in a timely manner
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the Pharmacy

Requirements

  • At least 1 year clinical and/or pharmacy experience
  • Intermediate IT skills and ability to learn and adapt
  • Calm, focused approach with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple priorities at once
  • Real team player, happy to get stuck in
  • Clear and constructive communication skills
  • Confidence to deal with a range of situations and people in a calm, professional manner
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle due to our rural location
