Permanent Veterinary Receptionist - Small Animal Team

Hook Norton Veterinary Group, OX15 5DG

30 - 35 hrs per week + 1 in 6 Saturdays (7:45am–2pm)

£12.71/hr, rising to £13.45/hr after successful probation (higher rates considered for experienced veterinary receptionists)

This role is based at our hospital in Hook Norton with regular work at one of our branch sites in either Charlbury or Moreton-in-Marsh. This is more than just a front desk role; you will play an integral part in a fast-paced, professional environment that values teamwork, compassion, and efficiency.

About the Role

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a varied, fast-moving setting and enjoys working with both clients and clinical teams. We work in a regulated clinical environment and maintain high standards across the practice while keeping a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all clients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcoming clients in person and by phone
  • Managing and booking complex appointments using a variety of online platforms
  • Multitasking and handling urgent requests with professionalism
  • Processing payments, supporting dispensing duties, and occasional animal handling at branch
  • Rotating stock and keeping reception areas tidy and efficient
  • Completing varied administrative tasks, including insurance processing

You’ll be approachable, organised, and calm under pressure, with a genuine passion for great customer service in an environment that includes both routine pet care and emergencies.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • At least 2 years of customer service experience (ideally from a veterinary, healthcare, retail, or hospitality setting)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Friendly, clear, and confident telephone manner
  • High-level IT literacy and quick to learn new systems
  • Able to follow strict protocols and work accurately
  • Own transport is essential due to rural location
