Part‑Time Barista & Catering Assistant (Lone Working) – Rural Coffee Van Hook Norton Veterinary Group, OX15 5DG – own transport essential

Hours: Part time – Monday & Tuesday, 8‑9 am to 3‑4 pm + additional ad hoc hours

Rate: £12.71 – £13.45 per hour, dependent on skills/experience

Hook Norton Veterinary Group is a proud, independent, and well‑established practice with expertise in small animal, equine, and farm care. We have introduced an on‑site coffee van serving employees, clients, visitors, and members of the local community from a unit located within the practice grounds.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Running the coffee van independently during your shifts, including opening, setting up, and closing down safely
  • Preparing and serving high‑quality hot and cold drinks, with full barista training provided
  • Preparing simple fresh food, snacks, and cakes in line with food hygiene standards
  • Providing a friendly, professional service to employees, clients, and visitors
  • Handling payments, cashing up, basic administration, and keeping the unit clean, organised, and well stocked
  • Monitoring stock levels, completing weekly fresh stock shopping, and placing small orders when needed
  • Following food safety, health and safety, and lone‑working procedures, using initiative to manage busy periods and unexpected issues

What We’re Looking For

  • A warm, engaging, and approachable person with ideally at least 1 year of hospitality, café, or customer service experience
  • Honest, trustworthy, and confident working independently, with the ability to prioritise tasks and make sensible decisions
  • Comfortable preparing simple food safely and maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and organisation
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to stay calm and professional during busy periods while following procedures carefully
  • Keen to help grow a thriving local business and build customer loyalty
  • Own transport due to our rural location and limited public transport options
  • Able to manage lifting and moving heavy items and stock at times
  • All candidates will need to successfully clear a DBS check
