About The Role

We’re looking for a kind, calm and positive Midday Meals Supervisor to join our Nursery team this September. This is a special role supporting our youngest children, aged 3-4, during a key part of their school day. From 11.15am to 12.15pm, you’ll help children enjoy their lunch safely and happily, encouraging independence, positive routines and good manners before supporting play and helping create a calm, settled lunchtime environment. You’ll be working closely alongside our experienced Nursery team, so we’re looking for someone who can use their initiative, pitch in where needed and be a supportive team player. A warm, nurturing approach is essential, along with a good sense of humour and a willingness to get stuck in with whatever the children need.

At Hook Lane, we are committed to Encouraging Fearless Learners, and this role plays an important part in helping our children feel confident, safe and ready to thrive.

As a Midday Meals Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise pupils during lunchtime in the dining and play areas
  • Encourage healthy eating, independence and positive behaviour
  • Support positive play, friendships and social development
  • Build trusting relationships with children and staff
  • Help maintain a safe, calm and inclusive environment
  • Work collaboratively as part of the wider Nursery team

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with children and brings warmth, patience and energy to the role
  • Is calm and confident when managing behaviour or resolving minor conflicts
  • Is reliable, punctual, and committed to being a positive part of the school community
  • Has good communication skills and enjoys being part of a team
  • Understands the importance of inclusion and kindness in every interaction

No formal qualifications are required, but experience working with children or in a school environment is a bonus.
