Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides front and back office support, escorts patients, maintains exam rooms, and handles medical and administrative tasks. Under provider supervision, performs duties related to patient examinations, testing, injections, phlebotomy, and documentation. Works as part of a team to enhance patient experience and communication.
- Prepare treatment rooms, escort patients, take history, vital signs, and assist during exams and procedures.
- Travel to off-site locations for testing and assistance with physical exams.
- Administer injections and TB tests under supervision.
- Perform venipuncture, lab tests, and office procedures like PFT, UDS, EKG, etc.
- Handle patient calls, relay information, and manage referrals and authorizations.
- Perform front office duties including reception, scheduling, and documentation.
- Coordinate with insurance for authorizations and referrals, and communicate with case management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program required.
Licenses and Certifications
- Completion of an approved training program or passing a certifying exam by an accredited organization is required.
- BLS certification required.
- Must have or obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card within seven days of employment if applicable.
