The Forum is a membership charity set up to improve the role of Treasurers and encourage others to take this role. We need three new trustees with digital skills and marketing experience to help launch a new strategy and develop our profile, attract new members and enhance services.

As trustees with digital, marketing and finance skills you will help ensure our board can oversee our upcoming website redevelopment with greater confidence and implement the usage of AI and improved digital marketing to help more treasurers by taking us from a small competent but slightly traditional charity to a modern more effective and vibrant charity who can grow our membership and through our members have an even bigger impact on the charities they in turn support. You can also help to improve the diversity of the current board and support longer term planned succession of both trustees and the current CEO.

The role is predominately strategic with some support of new developments in providing advice, knowledge and experience. On occasions there will be opportunities to help the small executive team to move things forward in a volunteering capacity. Trustees are also asked to chair and facilitate the events but with an increased board of trustees this would only require a maximum of two one hour zoom events a year and attendance at the summer and autumn in-person events and receptions in London at present.

You will join a board with strong financial skills and a deep understanding of the charity world, the challenges charities face and the regulatory, ethical, governance and cultural issues that treasurers and fellow trustees have to address. You should also have the opportunity to broaden your personal knowledge, experience and skills whilst knowing that you will have a social impact much that is much broader than the Forum itself.

The Forum is a small charity with an annual income of £30,000 but has become financially sustainable over the past five years with reserves to invest in the planned developments. The Forum has an excellent reputation with its members, the corporate members and the Sponsor. Respected by other charity infrastructure bodies we value collaboration and working with others both charities and businesses to broaden and improve our impact.

We are looking for individuals who have enthusiasm, energy and a desire to help others through the treasurer members of the Forum complemented by business acumen and a wish to see trustees and charities have the opportunity to become more effective through good governance and improved financial competence. Specifically the Forum wishes to expand the skills of the current trustees with excellent understanding, skill and experience in Digital Marketing, Marketing more generally, Technology and IT developments including AI and Finance.

An understanding of collegiate responsibility, good team players who work collaboratively to enhance and complement current skills, experience and knowledge of the organisation but are unafraid to challenge and ask questions of both fellow trustees and executive is important. Individuals with successful business or social enterprise career to date would be really welcome, a broad understanding of the charity world would be helpful but not a prerequisite.

Overall we are looking for effective operators with good business and people skills, who recognise the current scale of the Forum but are willing to guide and advise it into its next iteration.

As a trustee you will have a vital role in helping to deliver a new strategy and look to develop our profile, attract new members and enhance our services. With a board of trustees who are experts in charity finance, we are endeavouring to broaden the skill base so your digital skills and or marketing experience will help us to become a much better known and digitally competent small but effective membership body.

By using AI to make us more effective and renewing our website we intend to improve our services and information we provide to our 300 individual members and 36 corporate members plus our Sponsor CCLA. The Forum operates across the UK and the trustees meet quarterly twice a year in person in London and twice by zoom. We have a very small but effective team of contracted very part time staff including a CEO, a marketing and communications person and a bookkeeper.
