The Peninsula London is excited to announce that we are seeking an

Assistant Head Sommelier to work within Brooklands Restaurant, assisting with designing and delivering a unique and market leading wine programme alongside the Head Sommelier.

This position will have a great passion for both wines and service and be able to translate this into a special guest experience.

The restaurant is located on The Peninsula London’s rooftop, offering contemporary British cuisine.

Located on the eighth floor, it comprises several spaces including the bar which has a panoramic view over Wellington Arch and Buckingham Palace Gardens.

  • Key Accountabilities
  • Always ensure the delivery of exceptional wine service, providing friendly, yet discreet and unobtrusive service in greeting and waiting on all guests.

Exceeds guest expectations with service, in keeping with the Peninsula Service Principles, focusing on the core principles.

  • Establish and maintain positive guest and colleague interactions with productive working relationships.
  • Work closely with other departments and stakeholders such as Procurement, cellar stores and other outlets.
  • Handle all guest and internal customer inquiries that needs the attention of the Food and Beverage Office in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved promptly.
  • General requirements
  • Good knowledge of wine and food pairing.
  • Experience of 4 year or more working in a similar role in a luxury environment.
  • Wine-related studies.
  • Friendly and positive with a flexible approach and confidence to guide a team and converse with guests.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
