If so, we want to hear from you! We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Project Engineer to join our Electronic Controllers team at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies in Yeovil.

Honeywell Aerospace products and services are used on virtually every commercial, defence, and space aircraft. We build aircraft engines, cockpit and cabin electronics, wireless connectivity systems, and mechanical components. Our hardware and software solutions help create more fuel-efficient aircraft, more direct and on-time flights, and safer skies. The Yeovil site is a thriving design, development and manufacturing facility specialising in Environmental Control Systems and Life Support Systems.

As part of the town’s rich aviation heritage, the site boasts world-class development and qualification testing facilities and has produced numerous innovations in these product areas. Within the Yeovil Engineering department, the Electronic Controllers team is a multidisciplinary group that provides the core functionality of these systems, integrating specialised hardware and software to meet the stringent requirements associated with these high integrity systems.

This is a hybrid role, featuring a 3 days in-office/2 days remote work model, with occasional travel to customer sites in the UK and Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Our project engineers ensure the successful delivery of high-quality electronic controller solutions on time and within budget.
  • Leading the design, qualification and compliance of multiple aerospace electronic products from concept through to production.
  • Collaborating with mechanical, electronics, firmware and software engineers to achieve technical requirements and objectives.
  • Controlling the electronics project scope, including schedule, budget, and risk, along with scope change and baseline control.
  • Managing design and phase gate reviews as well as progress status reporting, with key stakeholders within the organisation, and with customers.
  • Providing engineering cost and effort estimates to proposals, to win new business.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in electronics, software, aerospace engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in digital/analogue electronics design and/or embedded software design, to an extent that inspires confidence in the design team being led.
  • Experience in requirements and configuration management, quality standards and documentation to a level commensurate with aerospace products and techniques for ensuring built-in quality and safety.
  • Conversant with and have experience in all facets of project management (including resource, cost and milestone planning, risk management, change management) using typical planning tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Experience in developing management operating systems for projects per AS9100 and Aerospace Procedures, or equivalent quality standards.
