Overview
To co-ordinate and support the operational teams to achieve Targets, maintain required levels of Quality and Safety and Deliver Continuous Improvement. This will be achieved by supporting the team to overcome day to day problems, ensuring that the team operate to established standards, are constantly seeking to improve the operation through continuous improvement and engaging with functional support areas both on and off site.

Key responsibilities
- Conformation of standard work – Walk the process regularly making sure that standards are being followed rigorously. Regularly audit standard work processes (recording observations) and mentor/coach to improve performance. Meeting production targets – Coach and mentor the team to ensure that targets are achieved. Escalate issues and always focus on eliminating problems not just fixing issues. Responding to and on calls – Support the team members by a timely response to issues raised. Coach and support the team to resolve problems and escalate issues as required
- Manpower/holiday scheduling – Manage daily resource allocation and holiday allocation within site policy guidelines. Review forward looking plans to ensure resource gaps are filled. Training and cross-training – Ensure team members are trained to the required competence levels needed to support the cell operation and that clear development plans exist (Plan for Every Person). Regularly review team skills and learning plans.
- Policy management – Manage performance issues with the team. Rigorously monitor attendance and performance implementing corrective actions where necessary. Complete regular 1-1’s with the team to support development using the standardized process. Facilitate group activities – Lead improvement or other activities designed to resolve issues rapidly e.g. rapid problem solving and 5S activities. Team morale – Use recognition and other means to build a strong team identity and improve morale
- Process improvement – Encourage the teams to continuously seek opportunities to improve performance. Support in delivering incremental improvements by unblocking issues and facilitate regular Kaizen events in line with meeting Strategy Deployment objectives. Coordinate maintenance activity – Ensure that a rigorous plan has been established to support maintenance of all critical equipment and that a planned maintenance plan exists and is adhered to for the process
- SD planning – Play an active role with senior leadership on developing and deploying operating strategy. Process trials – Rigorously evaluate changes in process to ensure that all HSE and Quality implications are considered. Shift co-ordination – Where applicable ensure handovers from shift to shift are effective and cover key escalations on a daily basis
Key skills and qualifications
- Completion Green Belt certification within 6 months of appointment to the role (retrospective certification is required for those already in the role and not certified)
- Completion of ISC Frontline Supervisor Development Training is mandatory within 12 months of appointment to the role (retrospective certification is required for those already in the role and not certified)
- SIOP training in line with expectations for leaders
- Coaching, Communication, Leadership commitment, Teamwork, Engagement, Leadership Standardized Work, Change Management, Accountability & Ownership
- HSE compliance, Standardized work, 5S Maintain Standards, Continuous Improvement, Achieve S,Q,D,C,I targets
