Mechanical Engineering Leader in Luton

We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Leader to join us at Honeywell, in Luton, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom, reporting to the Engineering Director. This role is required to execute and accelerate NPI’s within the mechanical/metering engineering function whilst maintaining strict quality requirements. The ideal person will be practiced in the full development cycle of electro-mechanical products with a metering, sensor or general complex product background. This is a hybrid role, 3 + 2 days model.

Responsibilities:

• Focus on the mechanical / metering function located in Luton while collaborating with the wider product development functions.
• Manage the mechanical/metering function activities based on priorities and resource loading.
• Create product and work package specifications.
• Work closely with lead mechanical engineer.
• Ensure work activities are defined, communicated and executed to the specification.
• Drive work package execution using project management tools.
• Report progress, risks and mitigations.
• Forecast and subsequently manage 3rd party and labour costs.
• Provide engineering solutions (leadership and hands on).
• Provide guidance on best strategy for success i.e. CFD, prototype, soft tool, hard tool etc.
• Ensure all development administrative tasks are executed.
• Drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with engineering and cross functional partners.
• Collaborate and manage 3rd party consultants and suppliers.
• Ensure all facilities are exploited working closely with test, measurement, materials and prototype capabilities.

You Must Have:

• Experience working in a fast-paced electro-mechanical R&D design and validation environment.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical products.
• Project leadership.
• Working dynamically with missing information.
• Confident in presentations and meetings.
• 3D & 2D CAD.
• Engineering material selection.
• Design for manufacture & lowest cost.
• Concept selection.
• Value engineering.
• Root cause analysis.
• Product approvals.
• Product validation.
• Engineering function admin (ECN, document management, enterprise software).

Good to have:

• Knowledge of fluid metering principles (E.g. Volumetric, ultra-sonic, electromagnetic, inferential).
• Degree in mechanical subject.
• Injection moulded parts MID & potable water material approvals.
• Six Sigma methodology.
