We have an opportunity for a Senior Advanced Embedded Engineer with strong expertise in fire system development to join our team at Honeywell, in Leicester. You will play a critical role in the design and development of embedded firmware for fire alarm control panels, ensuring compliance with EN54 standards and customer requirements. This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model, with flexibility required to work onsite as per project requirements. This role will include around 20% international travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test embedded firmware for fire panel subsystems in line with EN54 and customer requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire regulatory standards (EN54).
- Investigate and resolve complex customer issues with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless hardware/firmware integration.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including DevSecOps practices and advanced software testing methods (static and dynamic).
Key Skills And Qualifications
- Degree in engineering (electronics or computer science) with 10+ years of embedded software development in C/C++.
- Strong experience with operating systems (FreeRTOS, Linux) and communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN, RS485, RS232).
- Skilled in hardware–firmware integration, debugging tools, microcontroller platforms and EMI/EMC‑robust firmware design.
- Proficient with GitHub, UML/class sequence diagrams, and CI/DevSecOps practices including static and dynamic testing.
- Excellent communication, presentation and leadership abilities, with solid understanding of electronic and electrical interfaces.
