We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Leader to join us at Honeywell, in Luton, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom, reporting to the Engineering Director. This role is required to execute and accelerate NPI’s within the mechanical/metering engineering function whilst maintaining strict quality requirements. The ideal person will be practiced in the full development cycle of electro-mechanical products with a metering, sensor or general complex product background. This is a hybrid role, 3 + 2 days model.

Responsibilities:
- Focus on the mechanical / metering function located in Luton while collaborating with the wider product development functions.
- Manage the mechanical/metering function activities based on priorities and resource loading.
- Create product and work package specifications.
- Work closely with lead mechanical engineer. Ensure work activities are defined, communicated and executed to the specification.
- Drive work package execution using project management tools.
- Report progress, risks and mitigations. Forecast and subsequently manage 3rd party and labour costs.
- Provide engineering solutions (leadership and hands on).
- Provide guidance on best strategy for success i.e. CFD, prototype, soft tool, hard tool etc.
- Ensure all development administrative tasks are executed. Drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and cross functional partners.
- Collaborate and manage 3rd party consultants and suppliers.
- Ensure all facilities are exploited working closely with test, measurement, materials and prototype capabilities.
You Must Have:
- Experience working in a fast-paced electro-mechanical R&D design and validation environment.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical products.
- Project leadership.
- Working dynamically with missing information.
- Confident in presentations and meetings.
- 3D & 2D CAD.
- Engineering material selection.
- Design for manufacture & lowest cost.
- Concept selection.
- Value engineering.
- Root cause analysis.
- Product approvals.
- Product validation.
- Engineering function admin (ECN, document management, enterprise software).
Good to have:
- Knowledge of fluid metering principles (E.g. Volumetric, ultra-sonic, electromagnetic, inferential).
- Degree in mechanical subject.
- Injection moulded parts.
- MID & potable water material approvals.
- Six Sigma methodology.
