We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our site in Yeovil as a Design Engineer. The appointed individual will need to be able to support the creation and update of engineering drawings in support of obsolescence updates to ensure compliance with latest REACh regulations and then process these packages of drawing changes through the Honeywell engineering change process. In addition, the appointed individual will support the investigation and incorporation of drawing changes requested by our internal and external customers to support manufacturing. You will be working on complex aerospace engineering projects across a variety of remits including Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Life Support Systems (LSS). Honeywell Aerospace products and services are used on virtually every commercial, defense, and space aircraft. We build aircraft engines, cockpit and cabin electronics, wireless connectivity systems, mechanical components. Our hardware and software solutions help create more fuel-efficient aircraft, more direct and on-time flights and safer skies.
Principal responsibilities will be to:
- Work in accordance with procedures and design standards and to contribute to developing best working practices.
- Be responsible for the completion and checking of drawing packs and any other supporting documentation. This will include drawings and any associated tolerance analyses.
- To liaise with production engineering and production planning in order to achieve a design/detail package best suited to production.
- Support engineering change requests and process deviation/waivers where necessary.
- Be committed to delivering against project schedules and meeting project milestones whilst working within a multi project team environment.
- Customer aware and a strong results focused work ethic.
Qualifications:
- Desirable to have at least 2 years' experience of CAD, ideally in the field of precision components.
- Basic understanding of configuration control.
- Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of six sigma and lean would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of machining and other manufacturing techniques advantageous.
