We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join us in Yeovil as a Test Solutions Engineer within Mechanical Test. This is a varied role requiring a multi-discipline engineer. The successful individual will be responsible for development and test engineering activities associated with mechanical systems and components or facility upgrades, data acquisition and instrumentation. This is an exciting opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer with abilities in mechanical, electrical and software engineering to develop the next generation of aircraft systems and test facilities. Responsibility will be across the Life Support System and Environmental Control Systems product lines at both component and system level.
The successful candidate will get hands-on experience with test facilities such as performance rigs, high altitude test chambers, acceleration (g) centrifuge, high flow, and high/low temperature test cells and more. This is a fantastic opportunity offering varied work within an exciting engineering department.
What will you be doing every day?
- Produce detailed electrical & pneumatic design/layouts to meet customer requirements and specification
- Produce test setups to meet customer specifications, owning design, build, calibration & commissioning activities
- Specification and procurement of pneumatic, electrical & instrumentation hardware
- Support test rig and facility build, seeing a design from concept through to installation, owning all aspects to drive the project forward
- Working as part of a team to innovate and develop the next generation of test solutions
Key Skills:
- The ability to manufacture test equipment, including test looms and test boxes
- Knowledge of low voltage DC systems
- A working knowledge of calibration
- A working knowledge of CAD software (NX, Solid works, AutoCAD or similar)
- A working knowledge of electrical schematics and instrumentation
- A working knowledge of PLC coding would be beneficial
- A working knowledge of Data Acquisition, such as National Instruments & Dewesoft
You will need to come from an engineering background and have a strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, particularly pneumatics. Ability to identify requirements from technical documentation. Ability to take ownership of a task and get results. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information effectively. Ability to work within a cross-functional team as well as individually.
