THIS IS AN OFFICE BASED ROLE IN SALISBURY. Our client is a thriving Tax and Accounting Practice based in the heart of Salisbury. Due to continued growth and increasing client demand, they are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join their team. Working closely with our Head of Accounting, this varied and rewarding role offers hands-on experience and the chance to become an integral part of a collaborative and forward-thinking practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and assisting with year-end accounts and tax computations for a range of clients
  • Assisting with the review and submission of VAT returns
  • Supporting Company Secretarial tasks and general compliance work
  • Carrying out regular bookkeeping duties using cloud-based accounting software
  • Liaising and coordinating with our outsourced team to ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately
  • Providing Xero training and support to clients where required
  • Building strong client relationships and liaising with clients to resolve queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Supporting the wider Accounts team and contributing to the smooth running of the practice

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential - min 1 year
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as this is a client-facing role
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small, supportive team
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using accounting software and digital systems
  • Experience using cloud-based software such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Strong literacy skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • High level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to review and check both your own work and the work of others
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards an AAT qualification would be advantageous
