The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Service Supervisor to join a dedicated operational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and supporting groups of individuals undertaking community-based work projects, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a hands-on role combining people management, practical work, and community engagement. The position involves working outdoors, travelling between sites, and supporting individuals to develop skills and positive working behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and motivate groups of individuals undertaking community-based work projects
  • Deliver on-site inductions, including health and safety briefings
  • Promote positive working relationships and encourage constructive attitudes towards work and rehabilitation
  • Maintain effective control and supervision of work squads while ensuring a supportive environment
  • Ensure work is completed safely and in line with health and safety requirements
  • Instruct individuals in the safe use of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Carry out practical work activities including grounds maintenance, painting and decorating, gardening, building maintenance, or related tasks
  • Liaise positively with community groups, site hosts, and project stakeholders
  • Maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation
  • Conduct risk-aware supervision of all work activities
  • Record and report accidents, incidents, damage, or loss promptly
  • Maintain accurate electronic and manual records including timesheets, health and safety reports, and expense claims
  • Ensure confidentiality and information security standards are maintained
  • Complete administrative duties associated with project delivery
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, trailers, and equipment in good working order
  • Transport individuals, equipment, and materials to work sites when required
  • Ensure all equipment is used and stored safely

The Person

  • Essential Criteria
  • Valid driving licence with towing entitlement, or willingness to obtain the relevant licence category within an agreed timeframe
  • Experience working with people in challenging team environments and motivating individuals to achieve positive outcomes
  • Practical competency in at least one of the following areas: Gardening, Painting and decorating, Grounds maintenance, Building maintenance or carpentry
  • Awareness of health and safety practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
  • Access to a vehicle capable of transporting passengers and equipment, with a tow bar fitted or willingness to have one fitted
  • Ability to work Tuesday to Saturday
