Honeycomb are pleased to partner with Ards and North Down Borough Council to recruit a Temporary Senior Capital Accountant (Full Time 12 Months).

Hourly Rate - £29.70 (Approx £55k pro rata). Full-Time - 9am-5pm with Hybrid working. 12-Month Temporary Contract. Immediate Start.

The Role

As Senior Capital Accountant, you will take ownership of the Council's capital accounting and asset management processes, ensure accurate financial reporting and provide expert advice across a wide range of capital projects. You will be responsible for:

  • Leading all aspects of capital accounting and fixed asset reporting.
  • Managing the Council's asset register and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and legislation.
  • Producing capital accounting information for the annual financial statements and supporting the year-end audit.
  • Providing financial advice to budget holders and senior stakeholders on capital expenditure and investment programmes.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controls.
  • Leading and supporting members of the finance team, helping to drive performance and continuous improvement.

About You

We are keen to speak with ambitious finance professionals who can hit the ground running. You will bring:

  • Strong experience in capital accounting and fixed assets.
  • Experience working within a large, complex organisation, where you have dealt with significant budgets and multiple stakeholders.
  • Previous experience managing or supervising a team.
  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent), or significant relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and deliver to tight deadlines.
